A Perfect Spring Weekend + My Week of Workouts

Hi there friends! Anyone else feel like this weekend flew by even quicker than usual? The past few days in Seattle have been some of the prettiest we’ve had so far this year and I’m so excited that the warm weather will be sticking around for a little while longer before the typical Seattle rain comes back.

Because the weather was so perfect, Bart and I spent a big chunk of our time outside soaking up some extra sunΒ before we head into our offices for the work week. You guys, being in the sunshine seriously left me feeling more relaxed and rejuvenated than I would have expected. Vitamin D is clearly SO important and this just goes to show that my mid-day walks at work are seriously a must.

The weekend as a whole was fairly laid back, but exactly what we both needed after an exhausting week last week. Instead of just telling you about it, I’ll recap the past few days in pictures because let’s face it, pictures are WAY more fun to look through than words πŸ™‚

Dinner Friday night was definitely one of the best meals I’ve had so far at one of the many new restaurants Bart and I are trying out. This sweet potato hash had a ton of yummy roasted veggies, and was topped with a delicious vinaigrette and a runny egg for extra flavor. Lot No. 3– you will become a regular stop!

Saturday was spent dog-sitting after my parents left my house to visit my grandparents, which proved to be tons of fun and just made me want a dog of my own even more. Dax clearly loved being included in all photos.

I mean the camera loves him. And he enjoys the extra face time on the blog πŸ™‚

We went on a number of walks outside (remember, I told you I got extra Vitamin D). Dogs definitely encourage you to go out for more walks–reason number 1479547 why I need/want a dog.

Sunday was kicked off with an awesome hike at Poo Poo point. For all of you in the Pacific Northwest, this is a must!

Mid-hike selfies were necessary.

This hike combined with the gorgeous 75+ degree weather was probably the one of the prettiest we had ever done!

And the top was just as beautiful. Absolute perfection after 45 minutes straight of climbing.

The remainder of Sunday was designated to weekly prepping (aka grocery shopping and laundry) before heading to dinner with Bart’s family. All in all, a family-filled and relaxing weekend that was just what we needed!

Now onto my…

Weekly Workouts

You guys, after 4 weeks without any running and a ton of extra physical therapy, I think I’m finally to the point where I can run pain-free! Coach has given me the green light to attempt 3 miles on Wednesday, so fingers crossed I make it through the entire run and can get back to my normal training cadence. As much as I appreciate the elliptical allowing me to keep my cardio up, I’m more than ready to step away from it for a long, long time!

Monday β€” 1 Hour Elliptical Workout with hills incorporated + PM session of Hip Strengthening exercises.Β Another Monday filled with an extra-hilly elliptical workout. Monday afternoon, I hit my company’s gym after work to finish up my strength workout, which proved to be extra tiring, but really fufilling afterwards!

Tuesday β€” 45 minutes of RPM + a 15-minute upper body circuit.Β Typical Tuesday spinning workout which, once again, featured extra hills. My legs were definitely feeling it!

Wednesdayβ€” 70 minutesΒ of elliptical (10 min warm-up with 3 sets of 15-minute pick-ups with 5-minutes easy between, plus a 5 minute cool-down) & PM session of strength.Β This workout was so so so mentally draining. 15-minute pick-ups were so tough (especially because I was exhausted on Wednesday morning), but it was a very rewarding workout to finish. I also did another round of my strength workout from Monday in the afternoon.

Thursday β€” 30 minutes of easy rolling hills on the bike + 15-minutes of core.Β A nice recovery workout for my legs plus my first core workout of the week.

Fridayβ€” a Pure Barre class.Β Ouch. That’s all I can say about this class. So incredibly challenging!

Saturdayβ€” 90 minutes of elliptical playing with rolling hills and pace.Β Remember how I said I was ready to quit the elliptical for a while?Β This workout is why. For some reason, I was just totally drained by Saturday morning, so this workout was even tougher that I had anticipated.

Sunday– Poo Poo Point Hike (active recovery day)

Thanks for the link up Meghan! Have a fabulous Monday! πŸ™‚

  1. Sitting in a sun patch and soaking up some vitamin D is always a good idea. It’s how my cats live and I try to emulate them so it works.

The sweet potato hash with the roasted veggies sounds fantastic.

Pure Barre is a such a great class, and it definitely leaves you aching. I’m getting excited to get back to exercise.

    Thanks for linking up.

  2. Um, so you guys are WAY too cute! All of your photos are adorable – I’m lucky if I can convince Jesse to take a picture with me once in a blue moon as he’s like a 15 year old girl when it comes to critiquing photos of himself πŸ˜›

Looks like you had a perfect weekend! xo

    • Thanks so much Kristy!! Bart is pretty good about letting me take pictures randomly of us, so hopefully he doesn’t get too sick of it later on since I’m still fairly new to blogging πŸ™‚ hope you had a fabulous weekend as well!!
